Ultra-Pellet Pan

Capture plastic pellets and resin from railroad tankers

Designed specifically to capture plastic pellets and resin from railroad tankers, the Ultra-Pellet Pan track pan offers a tailored solution, allowing rainwater to drain out effectively, thus preventing the need for costly cleanups and potential regulatory fines.

NOTE: The Ultra-Pellet Pan is not suitable for containing any liquids.

Features

  • Utilising polyethylene gaskets, the Ultra-Pellet Pan prevents spills from seeping between the rails and pans.
  • With a lightweight design, the Pellet Pans are both cost-effective and easy to install. No heavy lifting equipment such as forklifts or cranes is necessary, reducing installation expenses. Minimal tools and labour are required.
  • With an estimated lifespan of 20-30 years, the Ultra-Pellet Pans offer enduring performance.
  • Resistant to rust and corrosion, these pans require minimal upkeep. The polyethylene resin is treated with a UV inhibitor, mitigating the degrading effects of the sun.
  • Designed with safety in mind, both the pans and grates feature slip-resistant surfaces, ensuring stability even when wet or oily.

FAQ

1. How does rainwater drain from the pellet pan?

Each pan is fitted with a number of 76mm drains. Two in each of the standard pans, and three in each composite pan.

2. Could pellet blockages occur in the drainage system?

No, water will drain regardless of the amount of pellets that are contained. However, it is important (and not just for proper drainage) that any pellets that are contained by the pans be removed as soon as possible.

3. What is the installation procedure for the pans?

The installation process for either pan is relatively simple and requires only basic hand tools. Product specialists and our technical team are also available should you need further assistance. Please feel free to call them at 1300 880 623.

4. Is it possible to detach the pans for cleaning or inspection post-installation?

Yes, while the Ultra-Pellet Pans are designed for a long-term installation, they can be removed if necessary.

5. Is grating essential?

The grating is required in the standard pans and recommended (but not necessary) for composite pans.

6. What tools are necessary for pan installation?

Basic tools that would be available in almost all workshops is all that is required for the installation. Some slightly more specialised tools may be needed for site preparation. Please see the installation instructions here for a complete list.

7. Are deflector shields mandatory?

Not necessary but HIGHLY recommended. Without them, the pellets are very likely to bounce out of the pans and into the surrounding environment.

8. Are drains obligatory?

Without drains, they are not pellet pans. UltraTech’s other railroad containment products, the Ultra Pellet Pans, are essentially the same as pellet pans but without drains so that they can be used to contain liquid leaks and spills.

9. What is the minimum size of pellet that the pans can capture?

The drains in the Ultra-Pellet Pans are designed to capture pellets 1mm in diameter or larger.
