Flexible Floor Bunding

Chatoyer flexible floor bunding in workshop

What is a Flexible Floor Bunding?

Flexible Floor Bunding uses high density memory foam encased in heavy duty PVC to form flexible containment lines around equipment, decanting points, and storage areas. Correct installation helps prevent liquids from tracking beneath the bund and supports controlled clean up within the bunded zone.

Installed correctly, it helps prevent liquid from tracking under the bund line and supports cleaner, controlled spill response.

Material and chemical resistance

  • High grade 900gsm PVC with very good chemical resistance
  • If PVC is not suitable for a chemical, bunding can be supplied in an alternative geomembrane fabric on request

How to select the right height

Drive Over Suitability

Typical Applications

Compatible Products

50mm

(Low Profile)

Low Risk

Simple containment lines with easy movement of people and equipment. Ideal where spills are infrequent and volumes are small.

Occasional low speed crossings where clearance allows

  • Walkways
  • door thresholds
  • mixed use areas
  • light interaction zones
  • 2mL Bunding (50 mm)
  • 90° Corner Join (50 mm)
  • Install Kit: 2mL
  • Install Kit: 90° Corner

75mm

(Medium Profile)

Medium Risk

A balance of containment height + drive-over capability. Suitable for areas with moderate spill risk and regular equipment use.

Most drive over friendly option for forklifts and pallet jacks at low speed

  • Operational bays
  • transfer points
  • maintenance zones
  • shared access areas
  • 5mL, 10mL, 30mL Bunding (75 mm)
  • 90° Corner Join (75 mm)
  • Install Kits: 5mL, 10mL

150mm

(High Profile)

High Risk

High-volume containment where preventing liquid escape is critical. Best for dedicated containment areas. Not suitable for drive-over.

Not intended for drive over

  • Chemical storage
  • plant rooms
  • generator
  • battery rooms
  • bunded perimeters where traffic can be rerouted
  • 2mL Bunding (150 mm)
  • 90° Corner Join (150 mm)
  • Install Kit: Matching size

CHFFB39Flexible Floor Bunding (2mL x 205mmW x 50mmH)
CHFFB40Flexible Floor Bunding 90° Corner Join (300mmL x 205mmW x 50mmH)

Best for access‑critical zones where trip hazards must be minimised but containment is still required.

Use Cases

  • Walkways, pedestrian zones
  • Warehouse areas with light vehicle interaction
  • Low speed forklift crossings in low-traffic areas
  • Entry/exit points where a taller bund would interfere with operations

Strengths

  • Lowest profile provides minimal obstruction
  • Easy drive-over for forklifts
  • Clean, simple design suited for “mixed-use” environments

Limitations

  • Not suitable for high-frequency drive-over cycles
  • Lower containment capacity

Designed as the optimal drive-over option for general industrial use.

Use Cases

  • Warehouse operational areas
  • Regular forklift or pallet jack access
  • Light industrial traffic
  • Equipment bays and maintenance areas

Strengths

  • Triangular profile for easier wheel transition, best drive over option
  • Stronger containment volume
  • Visual cue without being an obstruction
  • Best “middle ground” solution

Limitations

  • Not suitable for high-speed or continuous heavy traffic
  • Not a substitute for heavy-duty metal/fixed bunding

CHFFB42 Flexible Floor Bunding 90° Corner Join (300mmL x 205mmW x 150mmH)

A containment-first barrier wall, not a drive-over product.

This height is typically selected for compliance, hazardous liquids, and areas where bund integrity + volume is more important than access.

Use Cases

  • High-risk chemical storage
  • Permanent installations
  • EPA/WHS compliance zones
  • Plant rooms, generator rooms, battery storage
  • Areas where traffic can be rerouted around the bund

Strengths

  • Maximum containment volume
  • Highly visible, strong profile
  • Ideal for risk mitigation and compliance documentation

Limitations

  • Not recommended for drive-over
  • Requires planned traffic flow around the bund

FAQ

Can forklifts drive over Flexible Floor Bunding?

Yes, where the height and profile are suitable and crossings are controlled. The 75mm triangular wedge profile is typically the most drive over friendly option for low speed forklift and pallet jack crossings. The 50mm option can suit occasional low speed crossings in low traffic areas if clearance allows. The 150mm option is not intended for drive over.

Is the 150mm bund suitable for access points or doorways?

Generally NO. 150mm is a containment first barrier. It is best when traffic can be routed around the bund rather than over it.

Do I need to check ground clearance?

Yes. Always confirm forklift and pallet jack ground clearance before purchase and before commissioning a layout.

Does bunding stop liquid from getting underneath?

Correct installation helps reduce liquid tracking under the bund line. Surface condition, adhesion or fixing method, and edge sealing all affect performance.

What chemicals is the PVC suitable for?

The 900gsm PVC has very good chemical resistance. Compatibility depends on the specific chemical, concentration, and exposure conditions. If PVC is not suitable, an alternative geomembrane fabric can be supplied by request.

Is installation adhesive only?

Installation depends on site conditions. Bunding can be secured using adhesive and or mechanical fixing methods as required. Reinforcement with aluminium flat bar can help hold edges more firmly, especially where there is regular low speed vehicle interaction.
