Ultra-Drain Guard Reusable Model

Chatoyer Silt Warden Alternative

Capture dirt and sediment at construction sites and other “high erosion” areas.

The Ultratech Ultra-Drain Guard Reusable model is a drain warden made for high erosion areas such as construction sites. Stormwater drains located in or near construction sites are at a higher risk of accumulating large amounts of dirt and sand. In such situations, it may be more effective to use a catch basin insert with a higher capacity. Although it doesn’t have the ability to capture hydrocarbons like other Ultra-Drain Guards, the reusable model is capable of containing up to 226kg of silt, soil, and dirt.

FAQ

1. Why would I choose the Ultra-Drain Guard, a Reusable Model, over another model?

Because of its extraordinary capacity (up to 226kg), the reusable model is an excellent choice where the potential for sediment, sand, soil, and dirt is great and there is little or no concern for capturing hydrocarbons.  For this reason, the Ultra-Drain Guard, Reusable Model, is often used on construction sites.

2. Two hundred and twenty-six kilograms is a lot of weight. Will the grate be able to hold the Ultra-Drain Guard in place with that kind of load?

This will be dependent from catch basin to catch basin depending on the design, weight, and size of the grate, the fit of the grate and other factors.  However, it can and has been done.  For added security, rebar can be inserted into the removal flap pockets and left in place (these will be necessary during removal of the Ultra-Drain Guard).

3. How am I supposed to remove the Ultra-Drain Guard when it is full?

Once rebar has been inserted into the removal flap pockets, the unit can either be removed by hand (at least two people) or, for larger loads, a backhoe, forklift or other equipment should be used.
