Ultra-Filter Sock

Stop sediment and other pollutants from entering stormwater drains

The Ultra-Filter Sock is a highly effective stormwater protection solution that works above the drain. With a variety of filter media options to choose from, this Filter Sock is capable of filtering a wide range of sediments and pollutants, making it incredibly versatile.

The filter sock, which measures 2.7 meters in length, is positioned in front of storm drains. The woven geotextile material allows stormwater to pass through and into the storm drain, while the filter media inside the sock filters out pollutants. This innovative design ensures that pollutants are removed effectively, protecting our waterways from harmful contaminants.

FEATURES

  • Use the Ultra-Filter Sock in front of storm drains, around downspouts, in gullies and ditches, or anywhere there is potential for harmful stormwater runoff.
  • Woven polymer casing allows water to pass through quickly while the filtration media inside removes pollutants.
  • High UV rating allows extended life in sun and elements.
  • Available in 2.7m lengths. Units can be overlapped for longer coverage.
  • Looped ends allow units to be staked in place and also assist in transport.
  • Available with different types of media depending on which pollutant is present. (Multiple Ultra-Filter Socks can be used in a “treatment train” if the potential for more than one contaminant or a large quantity of a single contaminant is present).
  • Option for heavy-metal removal available.

FAQ

1. Why would I use the Ultra-Filter Sock instead of one of your other stormwater management products?

The Ultra-Filter Sock has several distinct advantages that could prove to be a deciding factor in choosing it to protect your drain from incoming pollutants.  (1) Ease of use and installation – with the Ultra-Filter Sock, you simply lay it down in front of a drain or inlet.  No hardware to install, no heavy grates to lift.  (2) Versatility – the Ultra-Silt Sock has multiple filtering media options available which enables it to remove pollutants that a lot of other stormwater products cannot remove.  (3) Multiple media options – not only are there several media options available but you can use them together in a “treatment train” so you can filter out many different pollutants.

2. Why WOULDN’T I use the Ultra-Filter Sock instead of one of your other stormwater management products?

If a “clean” installation is a significant concern or the Ultra-Filter Sock could pose a tripping threat to pedestrian traffic or an obstruction for street sweepers or other equipment, it may not be the ideal solution.

3. I have a 3m long kerb inlet. How do I protect it?

Since the Ultra-Filter Socks are only available in one length (2.7m), you can simply use multiple units when more than nine feet is required.  It is recommended that you overlap units to ensure complete coverage/protection.

4. There was some powder in the box that my Filter Sock was shipped in. What’s that all about?

Due to the nature of the filter media, some fine dust and powder can be released from the sock during transport (this is especially true of socks with HMRM). We recommend rinsing the Ultra-Filter Socks with a hose on grass or a vegetated area prior to use. This will allow most of the fines to be removed and captured away from any catch basin.
