Geobags are also known as dewatering bags, sediment pump bags and sediment filter bags. They are perfect for filtering sediment laden water. Geobags provide a simple yet effective method of removing heavy particles from excavation water allowing silt free water to be released from the bag.
Chatoyer manufactures a range of sizes for smaller applications and can custom designs for large sediment control operations. Our designs include options for various types of filter bags and filter tubes. We utilise either a non woven geotextile for gravity, or low pressure fed dewatering or a woven geotextile for high pressure dewatering scenarios.
Dewatering bags can be used within construction or mining activities for incidental dewatering applications (such as after rain events), dewatering dredged material, or dewatering sludge from waste water treatment.
Geobag effectiveness and maximum capacity will depend on a number of factors including type of sediment, temperature and the geotextile. Our engineering team will work with you to design Geobags that meet your site and project

Chatoyer Dewatering/Geobags are manufactured from 260gsm non woven geotextile with a 180 micron pore size. The bags feature double stitched seams and a reinforced neck for added strength.
Chatoyer Geobags are manufactured using geotextile material with a flow rate of 60L/sec/m².
They are commonly used on construction sites, mining projects, wastewater treatment works, dredging operations, and temporary pump out applications.
Dewatering/Geobags are used to filter sediment from pumped water during excavation, dredging, wash down, and dewatering works.
A standard Dewatering Bag is used for general sediment filtration. A Dewatering Cube is designed to fit onto IBC frames, making it easier to manage gravity and low pressure dewatering systems. It is also better suited for hydrocarbon contaminated water.
Yes. If a larger Dewatering Bag is required outside our standard range, Chatoyer can manufacture a made-to-measure solution to suit specific site and project requirements.
